totems for light

The totemic forms in this collection draw their spirit from my ongoing series Amulets for Light—a body of work that has been exhibited widely and is included in several museum collections, a recognition for which I am very grateful.

In this new iteration, titled Totems for Light, the work is reimagined in the form of wallcovering. Here, I’ve arranged and composed floral elements into towering, totemic structures that both celebrate and elevate the natural forms they represent, while paying tribute to the beauty they contain. This vertical arrangement honors the inherent grace of each bloom, symbolically safeguarding the quiet mysteries of their origin. Through repetition, these designs take on a ritualistic and symbolic presence— unctioning as visual amulets or protective shields that imbue spaces with a sense of wonder, strength, and grace.
